Holidays close to Coimbra,

The Bed & Breakfast accommodation is situated
in an area of Portugal called ‘The Beiras’. The Beiras is located just
north of the centre of Portugal and our accommodation can be found just
east of the historic city of Coimbra.

Tourism in this part of Portugal is in its infancy.
This means that you will be able to explore on your own and experience
the Portuguese way of life without being hassled. However, if you prefer
your holiday abroad to be a ‘home from home’ – for example, traditional
English pubs and traditional English grub for the English – then this
might not be the place for you!

This is the ‘real’ Portugal and it really is very
beautiful – it has been described as Scotland, but with better weather!.
It is unspoilt and you will not find a crowd anywhere. However, there
is always plenty to do so long as you have a car! A hire car is a must
if you do not drive over here yourself.

Our home, where we provide the Bed & Breakfast
accommodation, is situated in a small hamlet which is only a five minute
drive from both Lousa and Poiares. These two centres have all the normal
facilities you would associate with small market towns.

There are plenty of places for the independent
traveller to explore and to visit from our Bed & Breakfast accommodation.

For example, we are located close to Conimbriga,
the largest excavated Roman site in Portugal, and the National Forest
of Bucaco with its amazing palace. We are just half an hours’ drive from
Coimbra, Portugal’s third city, which will fill at least a day out in
itself. Only an hours’ drive away is Figueira de Foz with its beautiful
beach and coastline, and also Aveiro – Portugal’s answer to Italy’s Venice.

If you are happy to venture further, the fascinating
cities of Lisbon and Porto and the magnificent Estrela mountains are all
within driving distance.

Wherever you choose to go, you will find that
this beautiful part of Portugal lends itself just as invitingly to relaxing
and watching the world go by while you enjoy a delicious coffee in the
sunshine!
