Oak Cottage – self-catering three bedroom villa in Central Portugal, close to Fatima, sleeps 6, two private pools

We would love to welcome you to Oak Cottage, which is nestled under a large Oak Tree in the grounds of Quinta das Palmeiras. If you enjoy relaxed family holidays amidst beautiful hills and stunning scenery; or if you like an adventure holiday, horse riding, mountain biking or quad biking; or just walking through the hills or visiting historic sites and buildings and picnics by the river.

Whatever it is, Central Portugal is the place to do it and Quinta das Palmeiras is your ideal base.

The cottage is self contained with three bedrooms which can sleep six, plus a cot and a double sofabed. Guests have full use of the two swimming pools and gardens with play areas and quiet areas and lots of sun and shade.

The property is in a small village, with a mini-market and café bar a short walk away. There are market towns within 5-10 minutes drive, with cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, and supermarkets, so everything is close. There are weekly markets in all the main towns and many Festas (festivals) throughout the year. See heyportugal.com for lots more information about Central Portugal.

The cottage is set in the gardens of the owners accommodation, which extend to 2/3 acre and includes a 15 meter by 6 meter pool and a children’s pool. The garden has a barbeque, children’s play area and a large variety of fruit trees, so there is usually something to pick all year round. The cottage is fully self contained, whilst still being close to the house if any assistance is required.

We try to make your holiday and your travelling easy, by including many things that you would normally have to carry in your suitcases. We understand how much easier it is to travel light, especially when travelling with young children. Please ask if there is anything you might need.

If you are here on a viewing trip then we will share our experiences and put you in contact with local trades people who speak English.

The cottage has three bedrooms; a double bedroom, with a wardrobe and bedside drawers and space for a cot; a twin room with two single beds, hanging space and dressing table; and the third has bunk beds, and a wardrobe. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge for extra guests. There are two separate bathrooms, one with bath/shower and a wet room with shower.

The large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge has Satellite TV, & CD/DVD player. There is a range of games, toys and books in the cottage, so you won’t need to bring too many along with you. We can also provide children’s toilet seats, high chair and step. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with everything you might need during your stay. Children/Baby bowls and cutlery are available on request. There is a dining area and lounge seating for up to eight people.

The Garden

Guests have full use of the barbeque, pools and outdoor furniture. There are also many shaded areas in the garden and around the pool and a children’s play area. The garden is gated and fully enclosed, with lots of parking.

The Area

There is a Golf Course development only 20 minutes drive from the cottage, which will eventually have full 18 holes and leisure facilities. and new roads being built which will provide better links from Alvaiázere to Coimbra and Tomar, and shorten the journey in either direction.

We are only a short drive from the Cities of Coimbra (home to Portugal’s oldest university) and Tomar where you will find the Convento de Cristo which was the base of The Knights Templar. The capital Lisbon is a 90 minute drive and Porto about 2 hours. We have a number of river beaches close and fantastic scenery in this part of Portugal. You can be at the sea within an hour and The Algarve in 4 hours. You can do water sports on the river, walk in Dinosaur footprints and visit Roman towns. You will find lots to do and see here on heyportugal.com.

If you have never visited Central Portugal you may find yourself coming back again and again, like many other people do.
